Former Fellow Shannon Sims (Brazil, 2012-2014) wrote an article published by The New York Times regarding representation for transgender Brazilians on the small screen. “‘Edge of Desire,’ a popular prime-time soap opera chronicling the transition of a transgender man…draws about 50 million viewers per night [and] has also struck a broader chord in Brazil, at a time when gay and transgender issues have become more prominent in the country.”
