Anatole Shub was a prominent author, journalist and researcher. He was an editor at The New York Times when he was awarded his ICWA fellowship to Europe and Russia in 1962, which lasted until the following year. He later reported on the region for The Washington Post and served as news director for Radio Free Europe. He was the author of An Empire Loses Hope: The Return of Stalin’s Ghost.
