Pooja Bhatia is a California-based journalist and human rights lawyer. During her ICWA fellowship from 2009 to 2011, she investigated politics and development in Haiti. She was the Haiti correspondent for The Economist in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake, and her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Review of Books, The London Review of Books and The Baffler. She practiced law at the Bureau des Avocats Internationaux in Port-au-Prince as a Satter human rights fellow from Harvard Law School. She teaches in the University Network for Human Rights and holds degrees from Harvard Law School and Harvard College.
