A playwright, writer of film scripts and afficionado of Caribbean music, Paige Evans studied American literature and history as an undergraduate at Harvard and worked at Manhattan Theater Club’s literary department before going to Cuba as an ICWA fellow to explore performing arts from 1998 to 2000. She was a rare American allowed to travel to and in Cuba, the ICWA fellowship qualifying as allowed research under the US embargo. Paige later became artistic director of LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater and went on to serve in the same capacity at Signature Theater in New York.
