Paul A. Rahe

Paul Rahe is a classicist, historian and author of numerous books and articles. He earned bachelor’s and doctorate degrees from Yale University and studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes scholar. His ICWA fellowship from 1984 to 1986 examined the culture, society and politics of the Eastern Mediterranean. A former history professor at the University of Tulsa, Paul currently teaches at Hillsdale College. His books include Republics Ancient and Modern: Classical Republicanism and the American Revolution, Against Throne and Altar: Machiavelli and Political Theory Under the English Republic and Sparta’s First Attic War: The Grand Strategy of Classical Sparta, 478-446 B.C. He has been awarded fellowships by the National Humanities Center, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Hoover Institution and others.
