raphi soifer (they/them) is a performer, researcher and mess-maker (not necessarily in that order) whose work explores connections between memory and territory in city spaces. After completing their ICWA fellowship, raphi returned to Brazil, where they earned a master’s degree in arts (2012, Universidade Federal Fluminense) and a doctorate in urban planning (2017, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro). raphi has taught cultural studies and performance studies at Universidade Federal Fluminense, Colby College and the Bard Prison Initiative, and performed in cabarets, festivals and street corners in Brazil and the United States. Currently, they are a visiting post-doctoral researcher at Universidade Estadual do Rio de Janeiro.
