Chenoa Egawa is a singer-songwriter, performance artist, author, educator and advocate for Indigenous peoples. Those of Mexico and Guatemala became the subject of her ICWA fellowship in 1997–2000. A member of the Lummi Indian Nation, Chenoa attended the University of Puget Sound and received her bachelor’s degree in international business and Spanish from the University of Washington. She was host for the news television program Northwest Indian News, viewed across the western United States, Canada, Hawaii, Alaska and New Zealand. Chenoa also co-authored and illustrated two children’s books—The Whale Child and Tani’s Search for the Heart—and as a vocalist, has released five CDs.
