Martha Farmelo is an independent development consultant based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She was ICWA’s Suzanne Ecke McColl Fellow in Argentina from 2001 to 2003—accompanied by her partner Alan and young son Camilo—examining gender issues through the lens of Italo/Latino machismo. She has also worked with Catholic Relief Services, the Inter-American Development Bank in Costa Rica and Human Rights Watch in Ecuador. Martha also worked with the Inter-American Foundation in El Salvador and Uruguay, representing it at the 1995 UN World Conference on Women in Beijing.
