Curt Gabrielson is the director of Salinas Community Science Workshop, serving kids of farm-worker families with informal science programs in central coast California. As an ICWA fellow (East Timor, 2001-2003), he reported on how the new nation reconstructed and created an education system after the end of Indonesian occupation. He has published multiple books about teaching children science through hands-on activity, including Tinkering: Kids Learn by Making Stuff and More Tinkering: How Kids in the Tropics Learn by Making Stuff, featuring projects based on his years working with children in East Timor.
