About the Author

The children’s book editor for the New York Times Book Review for 31 years, until her retirement in 2005. Ms. Lipson was the author of the New York Times Parent’s Guide to the Best Books for Children. She often appeared on television and radio to discuss children’s literature. She earned a bachelor’s in political science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1964 and was the director of policy planning for New York City Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Administration before taking her post at the New York Times Book Review.
