Foreign Press Association nominates Hannah Armstrong for sports story of the year

“Young men who have been humiliated will have to rebuild their battered masculinity. Violence is the only form of expression they have left.”

So writes Hannah Armstrong (West Africa, 2012-2014) about the violent and illegal sport of sheep fighting. Her long read in The Guardian provides context for migration via the Mediterranean, and has now been nominated for sports story of the year by The Foreign Press Association.
