Marital rape isn’t a crime in India, but women do have basic rights and need to know how to protect themselves, lawyer Karuna Nundy tells Astha Rajvanshi (India, 2020-22) for TIME

“It’s one of the problems in the law that goes to the heart of the worst patriarchy,” Nundy is quoted arguing in court in January. “If you’re legally not allowed to sexually assault, slap, molest or kill your wife in the bedroom, why are you allowed to rape her?”
