Former fellow Robbie Corey-Boulet (Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon and Burkina Faso, 2014-2016) appeared on Trend Lines, a podcast by World Politics Review, to discuss the US military’s enigmatic presence West Africa. He raised the impact of a new drone base and how American actions may be undermining the democratic process. “The US isn’t a country that is highly controversial in the region, even though of course it’s a major superpower,” he said. “But what I’ve seen change is that there’s more suspicion regarding what the US is up to.”
