Background: The Institute of Current World affairs (ICWA), one of the oldest global fellowship programs in the world, is offering a unique internship opportunity with immediate responsibilities and opportunity. The successful candidate will be part of a small team, helping ICWA manage its fellows, communicate with our network and the public, and help organize events.

Internship description: ICWA is looking for a motivated intern to get hands-on experience learning to manage the inner workings of a small, well-established and active nonprofit. The intern will support the staff with website updating, social media posts, database management, day-to-day administrative tasks and other general support. The ideal candidate will enjoy having a diverse range of responsibilities, possess an eye for aesthetics, enjoy social media, write well and be able to conduct light research. In addition to normal working hours, the internship may require one evening per month.

The intern will have the option to pursue journalism opportunities on our website and support journalistic research.

Responsibilities:

Social media upkeep, posting and development

Website posting and writing content

Support the planning and staffing of ICWA events

Assist with the development of marketing materials

Database input and upkeep

Other duties as assigned or requested per intern’s interests

Qualifications:

Knowledge of basic office and database functions/programs

Excellent skills in research, communication, and attention to detail

Ability to take initiative and work independently

Demonstrated writing and proofreading skills, including an excellent understanding of grammar and syntax, to write clear and concise correspondence

Proficiency in Adobe products (i.e. Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) is a bonus

Experience working with podcasts is a bonus

Fluency in reading Russian is a bonus
